Find Your Wings
The Inner Leadership Skill Every Modern Executive Needs

What if becoming more successful as a leader, at work and in your personal life, didn’t come from learning another framework or following a one-size-fits-all roadmap?
This is one of the questions we hear most often:
– What’s the secret? What are the exact steps to become a great leader?
What we’ve learned over time, after working with hundreds of leaders, is that there isn’t only one way to lead well. There is your way to lead well.
It comes from something more personal, something that is unique to you.
The leaders who create the most impact lead authentically, with intention and by using their unique strengths. We’ve seen analytical leaders thrive by bringing clarity, structure, and strategy. We’ve also seen deeply people-centered leaders create extraordinary results through trust, connection, and emotional intelligence.
If either tried to lead like the other, they likely wouldn’t be where they are today.
This insight sits at the heart of our work at Renaissance.
We’ve found that leaders who grow most sustainably tend to focus on three essential areas. This became the foundation of our signature WNGSwayTM leadership journey grounded in three key pillars: Find Your Wings, Learn the Game, Lead You Way … and it all starts with Find Your Wings.
Finding your wings is about reconnecting with your personal power.
It’s about understanding what makes you, you; your story; your strengths; your leadership voice and bringing those qualities to the forefront, rather than trying to fit into a model that was never designed specifically for you.
Over time, many leaders notice subtle signals that something feels off:
. respond rather than react
. communicate with grounded presence
. make decisions without confidence
These moments aren’t signs of failure. They’re signals that something important is asking for attention.
Over time, many of us adapt incredibly well. We learn how to perform. How to meet expectations. How to fit the culture we’re in. And slowly, often without noticing, we move further away from what feels natural.
And it’s worth saying clearly: we are all leaders in our own way whether we lead teams, projects, families, or ourselves.
A Simple Way to Start Finding Your Wings
When we work with leaders in this first phase, we invite them to pause and reflect. Not to judge themselves just to notice.
You might start by asking yourself:
- When do I feel most like myself as a leader?
- What strengths do people consistently come to me for?
- Where am I leading from habit rather than intention?
Leaders who sit with these questions often notice a shift. Decisions feel clearer. Confidence steadies. Leadership becomes more intentional.
This is the inner work that unlocks outer momentum
As you reconnect with yourself in this way, something changes. Inner critics soften. Perfectionism loosens its grip. Not because the role becomes simpler, but because you become more aligned.
I didn’t become a different leader. I came back to myself.
One leader we worked with described feeling successful on paper, yet disconnected from herself. As she reconnected with her strengths and values inner compass, her leadership evolved from outward to inward, becoming more natural and authentic. With this simple yet powerful transformation Her energy shifted. She later said, “I didn’t become a different leader. I came back to myself.”
This is why Find Your Wings is the first step of the WNGSway.
From here, leaders move into learning the rules of the game understanding the environment they operate in and eventually into leading from the inside out, where self-leadership meets collective performance. Each step builds on the one before it.
Finding your wings is where the journey begins.
If you’re ready to grow further as a leader not by becoming someone else, but by leading more fully as yourself this is a powerful place to start.
When leaders strengthen their inner foundation, everything else becomes clearer and lighter. This is where the WNGSway™ Method begins.
